Hardy_FileOperationsCan your file manager do this?

This is only one of the cool additions to Hardy Heron, the latest version of Ubuntu to come out.

Other new features include Firefox 3 beta, modified in Hardy for stability, better hardware support, upgraded versions of all applications, Transmission BitTorrent client, and a nifty new wallpaper!

You can now also try Ubuntu inside Windows like a regular application. No need to partition, and no harm to your system. Give it a try!

For more details, check out the Ubuntu website.

Hardy File Operations 2Update: The new File Operations manager now also offers the “merge” feature when overwriting folders. In Windows, if you choose to overwrite a folder, it will blindly overwrite all of its contents as well. With merge, you will have the option of confirming which files inside the folder will be overwritten. Cool!

  • For me, there is a a downside to the new File Operations in Hardy: In Gutsy and earlier, you can determine the progress of your Copy/Move/Delete just by looking at the Copy/Move/Delete dialog’s icon at the taskbar (it’s a mini-progress meter).

Yeah, I second that many of the plugins aren’t compatible with FF3Beta5 yet. That means no del.icio.us and Tab Mix Plus for me for now.

Yeah.. FF3 doesn’t support some of plugins yet.. But anyway, I uninstalled FF3 then used the old version until FF3 supports ‘em.

BTW, Jeff, if you have the spare time, can you put up a short/quick tutorial on how you setup the Ubuntu/Win environment I saw in the office?

I’m thinking of setting up my laptop that way… Just don’t know how yet.. :) If you have any link, would appreciate it. Thanks!
