I know it’s been a few years since this was posted, but I thought I’d give some clarifications as to what Chrys mentioned. If you want to set up configurations and files (backgrounds, etc.) for the users, add/edit files in /etc/skel . Anything in that directory is copied to the home directory of any newly created user.

How about making a Google spreadsheet version and just put up a link to it from here? That way, the information is easier to use/analyze, and it’ll be more collaborative.
