    ‘ve compiled a short list of the Linux programs I use, which you could use an open-source alternative to whatever Windows program you’re used to. I dare you to make a comparison of program size, product cost ( :) ), and speed.

    In Ubuntu, the first two are installed by default, and the others can be installed with a few clicks of the mouse through Synaptic Package Manager or in Applications > Add/remove… Although I would suggest you learn to use the command line, it’s even faster:

    1. Open terminal.
    2. Type sudo aptitude install blender

    Just replace “blender” with the name of the package you want to install (package names in parentheses).
